One more thing: Please leave comments here, on this post, so we all know what everyone is suggesting. We can do what YOU feel is best, so openly share (not that I doubt for a second that you will).
How's this for democracy?

A little help for my friends
Okay, a lot of help.
I've realized that your workload is rather, um, heavy (no tomatoes, please).
So the syllabus is changing as follows--if you agree.
The Blog/News analysis is due on November 8--as stated in class.
There will be NO I-net news story assignment. Instead, choose the issue for your final presentation. The syllabus says it must impact Internet communication or journalism--present or future.
We will write your presentation in class---and you will use THIS issue to create a document that meets the style and standards of media writing for the Internet.
This and your final portfolio will be due on presentation day.
How does that sound?
Is this managable, or do you suggest a tweak?

Unintentional Communication
Now, the fact that we like coffee could lead to conjecture:
1. We don't sleep well.
2. We need to stay awake.
3. It's a hip thing to drink even if the clerk cannot get the order right.
4. Drinking it is a subversive campus activity.
I'm happy to find out that your reflective paper work directed you to some new thinking. I know Rachel loves her new mommy friends and there's nothing any board poster can do to push Jill away from her creation position.
We're going to touch a bit on design, and Ryann and Alicia might just offer some of their expertise on this subject. We will soon begin to make our own web portfolios, so these basic concepts should come in handy.
Now that we're learning about the effect of social isolation and the myth of "modernity" it will be good to note the ways in which we DO join together because that will enable us to improve the quality of our communication across platforms in the mass media.
I hope you're reading each other's blogs. Ryann has one now!
And people who don't know us would say that has nothing to do with coffee.

Bodacious bloggers
Bodacious means:
In CB radio jargon, a general word of praise
A variety of iris (and I have bearded ones in my front yard. Purple.)
Extremely cool, most excellent, "that is bodacious!"
Now, mind your manners. I did not mean any reference to a Rubenesque beauty.
Please check out Jenn's blog, which she included in a comment after my last post. I think you will learn a lot about her "extremely cool" experiences--with which, by the way, you have much in common--and find that she is a sophisticated person of the world (who LIKES New York).
In Mike's post, he mentions that he might use our wonderfully philosophical media concepts for another class. See? Bodacious, indeed.

United we stand
Hi all:
It is my great pleasure to see my Misericordia folks join our King's people! Look at it this way: misery loves company. Together, we can discover how little we understand messages when we attend to the Internet--although if it's e-bay, I only really need to understand the price.
I hope you all become "buddies," and know you are mine (although I am thinking about how the Newsweek article says it's awfully difficult to get rid of each other should we want to).
Remember to reflect upon "The Media is the Message" and "A Global Village" and what these ideas mean to you in relationship to the handouts.
(And don't forget for a second that Mike is already surfing to arm himself for verbal battle.)
